The UN has been working closely with Egypt to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. This is stated by Norwegian Tor Wennesland, the UN’s special coordinator for the peace process in the Middle East.
“The situation is still very vulnerable and I call on all parties to maintain the ceasefire,” he writes on Twitter.
The truce between Israel and terrorist-branded Islamic Jihad came into force on Sunday evening, after three days of fighting that claimed more than 40 lives.
