UN: Number of children killed in conflicts tripled in one year | News in brief

Three times as many children and twice as many women died in conflicts last year than in 2022, the UN says.

At the same time, the number of civilian casualties increased by 72 percent.

The parties to the conflicts are increasingly going beyond acceptable and legal boundaries in their actions, said the UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk today to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

He called the numbers appalling.
