The International Court of Justice in The Hague (ICJ) announces that it has jurisdiction to review genocide charges leveled against Russia during the full-scale war of invasion in Ukraine.

According to the UN court in the Netherlands, the ICJ can take up most of the cases that Ukraine has brought to the court. The accusations were leveled at Russia days after the February 24, 2022, invasion.

Russia accused Ukraine of committing genocide against Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine, which would be the reason for the Russian military intervention in Ukraine.

Ukraine emphatically denies the genocide charge and claims that the Russian claims are a violation of the UN Genocide Convention.
