Explaining why Tunisia abstained from voting after the vote held at the UN session, Adab said, “While millions of Palestinians are deprived of all kinds of living resources due to the siege in Gaza, Israel’s ongoing brutal attacks on the Palestinian people require us to take a stronger stance. The draft decision is based on every “No matter how much it aims to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and prevent migration, the crimes of war and genocide committed by the occupying forces are not clearly and strongly condemned.” he said.
“OUR PRINCIPAL ATTITUDE WILL NOT CHANGE”
Adab said, “Tunisia, which in principle opposes the aggressor side and the attacked side being considered equal, abstained from voting. As long as the attacks of the occupation forces against Palestinians are not openly and clearly condemned, our principled stance on this issue will not change.” said.
“WE WANT THEM TO END THE HALF-MEASURES”
Adab continued his words as follows:
“Killing children, women and innocent civilians, bombing places of worship and settlements are war crimes, not self-defense. Exercise of the right to self-defense, resistance to occupation and rejection of racial discrimination policies are seen as terrorism. The UN should assume its responsibilities and put an end to half-baked measures.” “We want more than a thousand UN resolutions to be respected and implemented.”
The draft resolution, put forward by Jordan and co-presented by nearly 50 countries, including Turkey, was voted in the Special Emergency Palestine session of the 193-member UN General Assembly.
The decision was accepted with 120 votes against 45 “abstentions” and 14 “no” votes.
