Bangladesh’s marginalized administration systematically attacked protesters and was involved in hundreds of arbitrary killing of protesters in an attempt to stay in power last year, says UN.
According to the UN, the administration may have committed crimes against humanity in its actions.
About 1,400 people died in the protests that continued for the second month. As a result of the protests Bangladesh’s then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country.
Hasina is currently in exile in India. Hasina continues to influence Bangladesh’s domestic policy, for example through the speeches he spent on social media.
Last week, Hasina gave a live speech that launched a wave of unrest in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is currently led by a temporary government led by a banker and a Nobel winner Muhammad Yunus.
