UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 3. Netflix released season 3 of Umbrella Academy on June 22, 2022. Elliot Page’s character is now called Viktor, in line with the actor’s transition into real life.

We indeed discover in the new episodes that it is a transgender man, Viktor Hargreeves, just like the actor who came out at the end of 2020. First, the creators of the Umbrella Academy series had congratulated Elliot Page, while indicating that the course of the actor would not influence the trajectory of their character.
However, they changed their minds: “The scripts were already completed, and production was to begin within two weeks. We had to find a way to incorporate the story of his transition into the plot of this choral series, has explained screenwriter Thomas Page McBee to Esquire. His transidentity had to exist as a texture of the character, but not as a determining trait. The writers have thus worked in concert with Elliot Page to offer the character and the public a plot as intimate as it is right for this fundamental member of the Hargreeves family: “It was an opportunity to show a transition that is so organic, so fundamental for that character, that it exists alongside the existing character story arcs, without eclipsing them.”
The Umbrella Academy recap before season 3
In previous episodes of Umbrella Academy, the Hargreeves family managed to prevent the Apocalypse caused by Viktor (known as Vanya in seasons 1 and 2) in 2019. They were however sent to the past, in Dallas in the years 1960. Diego is interned with a certain Lila and seeks to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy, while Allison is married and fights for civil rights. Klaus is the head of a cult, Viktor has amnesia, and Luther works as a bodyguard.
But Five announces to them that a new apocalypse threatens them and that they are still tracked by the Commission, which manages the space-time continuum. Viktor was -again- responsible for the apocalypse after being tortured by the FBI on suspicion of communism. Fortunately, Ben, the dead brother of the Umbrella Academy, manages to prevent the destruction of the world. However, Viktor passed on his powers to a young boy, while Lila is the daughter of the Commission’s Director whose biological parents were killed by Five, and she too possesses powers. Finally, our heroes return to 2019 as best they can, but their time travel has not been without consequences: they discover that the Umbrella Academy does not exist. Worse, another Hargreeves sibling, Sparrow Academy, occupies their mansion, while their father and Ben are still alive.
Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Five and Viktor return on April 2, 2019, the day after the Apocalypse. But the world they knew has changed: the space-time has once again been modified. The Umbrella Academy does not exist, and their father, Reginald Hargreeves is alive and well, as is Ben. But they founded the Sparrow Academy, and its members are far from comfortable…
Elliot Page came out as transgender on December 2, 2020. This announcement comes ahead of the release of Season 3 of the Netflix series. At first, the creators of the series support the actor but announce that this will not have an impact on the character he plays in Umbrella Academy. But they end up changing their minds, deciding that their character should be a trans man who is now called Viktor.

Synopsis – In October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth without having become pregnant with children with extraordinary faculties. Billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves decides to adopt seven of them, who will form the Umbrella Academy, a family of superheroes capable of saving the world. But as adults, the Hargreeves are a dysfunctional family with a lot of resentment. On the day their adoptive father dies, they discover that the apocalypse will occur in eight days and will destroy all of humanity.

Season 1 : The Hargreeves family reunites after the death of their father.
