Miles Teller showed what he was made of with Whiplash. The actor can particularly score points in dramas, but he also shines in action films like Top Gun: Maverick. He was able to do a mixture of both in his role as Vincenzo “Vinny” Pazienza in Bleed for This by Ben Younger.
If you liked Road House on Amazon Prime Video, then you should definitely take a look at the sports film with Teller. The based on a true storytells of a bitter blow of fate and of course there is also fighting in the ring.

Five world championship titles and a broken neck: Miles Teller plays the Pazmanian Devil on Netflix
Bleed for This is based on the story of professional boxer Vinny Pazienza, who won the International Boxing Federation’s lightweight world title in the 80s. In the early 1990s he changed weight classes and became the World Boxing Association’s light middleweight champion. In three other associations he was able to win further world titles in the super middleweight category, which is why he was named five-time world champion in three weight classes counts.
He had to give up the WBA title again in 1991. After his traffic accident and broken neck, he was unable to defend the title. The accident should have been the end of his career. At least that’s what the doctors told him. But Pazienza wasn’t ready to give up. He returned three years laterin order to continue fighting successfully. He has since been inducted into two Halls of Fame (the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame).
Ring free for Miles Teller and Jake Gyllenhaal
While Jake Gyllenhaal is dishing out Dalton in Road House on Amazon Prime Video, Miles Teller is fighting his way back into the ring in Bleed for This. But there is another film with Jake Gyllenhaal that is more reminiscent of the boxing drama with Teller – because it is also a boxing drama. Gyllenhaal has also already put on the gloves in Southpaw.
Both films feature exciting and heated fights in the ring as well as brilliant actors. Maybe we’ll see the two of them together in front of the camera at some point.
Bleed for This is available on Netflix with a streaming subscription.
