Boston’s win sets a new NHL record for consecutive home wins since the start of the season.
Much thanks to Boston’s goaltender, Swede Linus Ullmark, who made 28 saves before being injured in the third period.
Ullmark had just saved a shot with his glove when teammate and defender Connor Clifton fell on his head, after blocking a rebound. His injury will require further evaluation, according to Boston coach Jim Montgomery.
Already in the second period, Ullmark was praised for stopping a dangerous breakout by Carolina’s Jaccob Slavin. Ullmark decided early on to leave the cage and be first on the puck at the blue line.
The game was decided in overtime, when Boston’s David Pastrnak scored on the power play.
In last night’s meeting between New Jersey and Buffalo, Swedish Jesper Boqvist scored 2–0 in the second period. Buffalo’s Victor Oloffson responded by making it 2–1 at the end of the period.
But New Jersey held the upper hand and won 3–1. It is the club’s ninth straight win. After 15 games played, New Jersey has only lost one game.
— We played fast and we minimized their chances, sums up New Jersey’s Jesper Bratt, who scored an assist.
