Ulf Kristersson celebrated his 60th birthday with a trip to South America.

Next week it’s time for the big party – with an invitation for over 350 people at Rosenbad.

The government office covers the cost, but they do not want to reveal what the bill lands on.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) turned 60 on 29 December. The birthday present was a trip with the family to South America.

– It was a dream that my action-oriented wife decided would be implemented. So it’s a joint birthday present. We will be gone for a total of 10 days, he told Aftonbladet in connection with the birthday.

On Wednesday next week, Kristersson will hold a party at Rosenbad. Invitations will go out to 350 people.

“Among those invited are representatives of organisations, parties, authorities and business as well as people whom the prime minister has met in his work and who make important contributions to society,” writes Jenny Ryderstedt at the government office’s press service.

The Government Office pays

She adds that similar receptions have been arranged when former Prime Ministers have reached the same age, for example at Stefan Löfven’s 60th birthday.

The government office does not want to reveal what the cost will be, other than that it is at the same level as similar arrangements in the past.

“The cost is borne by the government office as the reception takes place within the framework of the role of prime minister.” adds Ryderstedt.

Kristersson was also noticed by the government office in the days before Christmas. On social media, he published a film where the ministers sang “Yes may you live”.

Was surprised with bubbles and cake

“Was thoroughly surprised with cake and bubbly this morning by my fine colleagues in the government. And thanks for all the congratulations in advance from you guys here on Instagram. You should actually celebrate birthdays more often.” wrote Kristersson on Instagram.

In August 2017, a cake party was held for then Prime Minister Stefan Löfven in Rosenbad.

“Today I celebrated my 60th birthday at work. There was singing by cabinet colleagues and by the fantastic Ulrika Ölund from my hometown. Thank you for the music and for everyone who came to celebrate me.” wrote Löfven on Instagram.
