Ulf Kristersson (M) about the state secretary’s poaching

It was in September 2021 that the former media profile and now the state secretary was caught poaching the endangered species in Blekinge. The Prime Minister says that he was aware of the incident and has continued confidence in PM Nilsson.

– He told me what happened – the incident almost a year and a half ago, he also told me that it was stupidly done, says Ulf Kristersson (M).

PM Nilsson has previously been political editor at the newspaper Dagens industri and was also head of editorial at Expressen. Since November last year, he has been state secretary in the government office.

Lied in interrogation

PM Nilsson twice denied the crime before he himself contacted the police to confess to the crime. The news has sparked anger among the opposition, which has called for the secretary of state’s resignation. Magdalena Andersson (S) considers PM Nilsson’s dishonesty in questioning with the police and authorities to be the biggest problem.

– It was stupid that he didn’t tell the truth at once to the police, but it was good that he came back on his own and told it like it was and has now taken his fine, says Ulf Kristersson.

Since 2007, it is forbidden for private individuals to fish for eels without a permit. PM Nilsson is said to have admitted the crime during the Christmas holiday and is punished with daily fines totaling SEK 38,800.
