Many of the Ukrainians who moved to Sweden have applied for support to be able to buy necessary things such as winter clothes, prams or glasses. But four out of ten applications have been rejected, reports Sveriges Radios Ekot.

The Swedish Migration Agency has so far paid out SEK 17 million to Ukrainian refugees who have been assessed as having a very strong need for aids or clothing that are not covered by the daily allowance.

But the need is judged to be much greater, according to the Swedish Red Cross.

– Rejections are not always made on completely correct grounds. With the daily allowance of SEK 71, you cannot save for winter clothes and other needs, says Johanna Saunders, operations manager.

The Swedish Migration Agency points out that its decision can be appealed to the administrative court.
