The Maarschalksbos, in which the hospital is built, was given to Baarn by the wealthy Miss IJsendijk at the time, on the condition that it would leave the forest undisturbed. In order to be able to build a hospital there in the 1960s, the municipality later bought off two heirs, but living on the site was still not allowed under the new conditions. The foundation fears that the municipality of Baarn is now trying to open the door to permanent housing with the housing units for refugees.
