In the reddit forum, a Ukrainian guild in World of Warcraft raised the alarm. Russian players would use automated reporting systems in MMORPG WoW to harm them. Blizzard becomes a vicarious agent, while at the same time selling a pet for Ukraine out of solidarity.
That was the complaint:
In the forum reddit appeared on 26.07. a post that a Ukrainian guild has come under fire from Russian players who position themselves in such a way that it is clear: they are on the side of Putin’s Russian war of aggression. It says:
Blizzard is also selling a pet for Ukraine
What made that particularly spicy? The situation in which Blizzard was obviously being used against a Ukrainian guild was so delicate because Blizzard was simultaneously selling a pet for the benefit of Ukraine, along with actress Mila Kunis. All proceeds from this campaign are to go to aid organizations in Ukraine.
A user wrote on 26.07. Blizzard support and asked what the support was like. They say they support Ukraine, but at the same time they ban a name like “Glory to Heroes” because it’s against the rules.
They wanted a clear answer from Blizzard: “Is it okay to support Ukraine in WoW or not?”
How is Blizzard reacting? In a message that has been released, Blizzard support in WoW has now at least decided to restore the guild’s name.
It said they looked at the “details of the matter” and decided to allow the name. Thank you for your patience and good luck to the complaining player and their guild.

Important NOTE: If you are plagued by dark thoughts about the current situation: you are not alone. Please get help. For example, with the telephone pastoral care on 0800/111 0 111 or the online pastoral care, where you can also use a chat. It’s free and applies nationwide.
This is behind it: The example shows how easy it is to abuse Blizzard’s automated systems. In this case, it was a particularly delicate and uncomfortable situation for Blizzard.
In the comments on reddit, which were soon closed, Blizzard was criticized for not having a special team to intervene in such cases.
In fact, it is known that Blizzard has significantly reduced jobs in community management in recent years for cost reasons.
Blizzard will probably delete German community managers for WoW, Diablo, Hearthstone
