A factory in western Ukraine has produced a range of uniforms for the Russian national ski team, Ukraine’s security police were able to reveal recently, reports Kyiv Post.
Several of the staff were aware of this – but were ordered to keep quiet about what was going on.
A factory in the Zakarpattia region of western Ukraine has produced several items of clothing, including several ski jackets with various Russian symbols affixed to them, for the Russian national ski team.
This was revealed by the Security Service of Ukraine in a report.
Pictures published by the SBU show how more employees within the security service are inspecting items of clothing that are said to represent the ski uniforms. Production must have been ongoing since the beginning of the year, shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Kyiv Post reports.
Negotiated contracts with Russian clients
The clothes are said to have then been transported to Russia through a European country – exactly which country, however, the SBU does not want to reveal.
Several people in the workforce at the factory are said to have known that it was going on but were said to have been ordered to remain silent.
Viktor Mykyta, head of the regional state administration of Zakarpattia, tells the Kyiv Post that the owner of the factory is Italian. He is also said to have been directly involved in organizing the transport of the clothes and negotiating contracts with Russian customers.
