– At this moment, we treat about 30 wounded a day. It’s not a small number either, says TokartÅ¡uk, who works as a surgeon, to the news agency Reuters.
He also says that recently he has noticed a new phenomenon in the soldiers’ stories, a possible poisoning.
– The soldiers complain that they have been poisoned. It is very difficult to say what kind of substances this is about. The symptoms are eye irritation, shortness of breath and cough, he says.
According to him, the symptoms are being investigated to obtain additional information.
Aftonbladet also tells about poison gases
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet recently visited a Ukrainian field hospital near Avdijivka in the Donetsk region. Russia’s new strategy has also been noticed in the south.
– In recent months, Russia has attacked more and more often with poison gas. These are dropped from drones in the form of grenades, a field grenade Vladimir tells Aftonbladet.
Often, Russia uses the chaos and panic caused by the gases to their advantage, immediately striking again with combat drones or concentrated artillery in the area.
– We don’t have any medicine for this. It is a gas that spreads very thickly over the trenches. It causes breathing difficulties and attacks the trachea, causing vomiting and dizziness, the commander of the forces in the area Roman Hasko tells Aftonbladet.
Suspicions that Russia used toxic chemicals in the war in Ukraine have been raised before, for example in the Mariupol region in 2022.
