Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico spoke about Ukraine’s NATO membership in an interview with Slovakian national television STVR.
“IT WILL BE THE STARTING POINT”
Stating that Ukraine’s admission to NATO will be with the approval of all member countries, Fico said, “Ukraine’s membership in NATO would be the starting point of World War III. “As long as I am the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, I will advise the members of parliament never to approve Ukraine’s membership in NATO,” he said.
EMPHASIS ON DIPLOMACY
Stating that he was against Ukraine’s NATO membership, Fico accused the West of fueling the conflict and stated that the war should be resolved through diplomacy rather than fighting.
Noting that he did not hide his stance from the USA and Ukraine, Fico stated that he would express his views to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmihal, with whom he will meet today.
