Lack of ammunition hampers Ukrainian offensives.
According to a general in the Ukrainian army, the lack of artillery shells is a big problem.
– At the same time, we see that the Western aid of weapons to Ukraine is lacking, says TV4 Nyhetern’s foreign reporter on the ground in Kiev, Johan Fredriksson.
When the Western countries do not agree on military support, the ammunition runs out.
The biggest shortage is artillery shells, according to Ukrainian Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskij.
– There is a big problem with ammunition, especially post-Soviet artillery shells – that is, 122 millimeters and 152 millimeters, he tells Reuters.
Operations are scaled down
The planned military operations are being scaled back, he says further.
– We distribute what we have. We also rethink the tasks we had set for ourselves, and make them smaller in scope, says Tarnavskij.
This amount of ammunition has not been used in Europe since World War II.
– Artillery shells are something that is used on a daily basis to a large extent. Russia received one million artillery shells from North Korea, which is expected to last for two months, says reporter Johan Fredriksson on the spot in Kiev.
