Ukrainian army chief of staff exasperated by Western criticism

In Ukraine, the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Valery Zalouzhny, spoke in a rare interview, in the washington post, on the advance of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. In this interview, the strong man of the Ukrainian army asked for ammunition, planes, and above all patience, and he did not hide a certain exasperation against the actors of the Western world, who expect miracles from the Ukrainians , but without helping them decisively.

How does Valery Zaloujny react when he hears that the counter-offensive Ukrainian is starting slower than expected? “It annoys me,” he said. replied to washington post, with his usual outspokenness, addressing Western officials, military experts and media who have inordinate expectations of current operations.

The problem, says Zaloujny, is that if the counter-offensive progresses, even at a rate of 500 meters per day, this one is done at the cost of blood.

In this interview, the general-in-chief is irritated that the allies are pushing Ukraine to counter-attack, while Westerners themselves would never have dared to launch such an offensive without air cover, which the Ukrainians are currently doing at the cost of human lives.

We understand that despite the courage of the Ukrainians, it will be impossible to move forward in depth without the support of F16 aircraft, and Zaloujny deplores the delay by Westerners in ammunition deliveries and fighter planes.

According to Zalouzhny, the longer the war lasts, the more ammunition it will consume, which will become increasingly rare, and it is in everyone’s interest to shorten the war by lending Ukraine the few dozen planes it needs.

It’s a safe bet that the interview will be heavily commented. It will also put Western officials before their responsibilities.
