Ukraine’s interior minister and deputy interior minister have died in a helicopter crash in Brovary in the Ukrainian capital region, police said according to AFP.

18 victims have been claimed, according to the police.

According to a spokesperson for the region’s police force, the crash should have led to an explosion near a preschool, writes the newspaper Kyiv Post on Twitter.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s staff says the aircraft crashed into a building. “The number of reports of victims in Brovary is increasing,” Kyrylo Tymoshenko of the presidential staff said via the Telegram messaging service.

The capital region’s governor, Oleksyj Kuleba, writes on the Telegram messaging service that there are victims and that a fire has broken out. According to the information, staff and children were in the premises and have been evacuated. Some information claims that it is a helicopter, others that it is a drone that has crashed.
