Now Russia and the United States meet in Saudi Arabia where Ukraine’s future can be decided. The talks are done just days away from the fact that the war has been going on for three years.

But despite the fact that Russia has made it clear that there is no place for Ukraine at the negotiating table, Zeleskyj has announced a state visit to Saudi Arabia.

During the morning, negotiations started between Russia and the United States. Both parties have sent peaks to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia where the countries will meet. The Russian delegation includes Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Yuri Ushakov, foreign policy adviser. On the part of the United States, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, the White House envoy in the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Mike Waltz, are a national security adviser.

Earlier this week, President Trump has also said that direct conversations between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saudi Arabia can become a reality in an “not too distant future”.

Today’s meeting is described as the most important between the two countries since Russia’s full -scale invasion of Ukraine 2022.

Before the day, the United States has said that their goal is to find out if Russia is serious about negotiating an end to the war. From Moscow’s point of view, it is said that the meeting will focus on the relationship between the US and Russia.

When Yuri Ushakov landed in Saudi Arabia on Monday, he repeated Russia’s earlier line, that the talks that are being carried will only be between Russia and the United States. He insisted that there is no third party. This means that Ukraine is closed outside. No representative from Europe does not seem to have any place at the negotiating table.

Zelenskyj’s move: traveling to Saudi Arabia

Also President Volodymyr Zelenskyj will travel to Saudi Arabia, raccommodates Ukrainian media. But according to Zelenskyj, it is just a coincidence that he is going to travel to Saudi Arabia while held the talks and that he does not plan to meet either American or Russian representatives.

During the Munich Security Conference in a few days ago, the Ukrainian president directed a boot against Trump.

“Ukraine will never accept agreements that are made behind our back,” said then.
