Ukraine’s equivalent of Melodifestivalen was held in shelters

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Ukraine won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but will not host next year’s contest due to the ongoing war. Instead, the competition will be held in Liverpool in Great Britain, something that became known in October.

On Saturday, Ukraine’s equivalent of the Melodifestivalen took place – in a shelter at the subway station Majdan Nezalejnosti in Kyiv. Ten entries competed in the competition and the winner was the electro duo Tvorchi with the song “Heart of Steel”.

The Eurovision Song Contest takes place 9–13 May next year.
