Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in connection with his visit to Prague, reports Reuters.
The formulation that NATO adopted in 2008 – which states that the door “remains open” for Ukrainian membership – is not sufficient, the president believes.
The Vilnius meeting will be held on July 11–12, and the hope from Ukraine’s side is that in connection with this they will receive indications that they will be released into the alliance after the war has ended.
— We are talking about a clear signal, concrete things that point in the direction of an invitation, Zelenskyy said at a joint press meeting together with Czech President Petr Pavel.
The Czech Republic has been one of Ukraine’s closest allies since the full-scale invasion began last February and is a strong supporter of allowing Kiev to begin membership negotiations once the war is over.
