The situation on the eastern front in Ukraine is “tense”, according to the country’s Minister of Defense Rustem Umjerov.

The minister announces that he has visited forces at the front, where Ukraine has previously warned that the situation has deteriorated significantly. The country is beginning to suffer from a shortage of ammunition, Umjerov repeats.

Russia is on the offensive on the front line in eastern Ukraine. Earlier this year, the country secured its first success on the ground in almost a year, when the Russians took control of the village of Avdijivka. Since then, Russian forces have claimed further advances, increasing pressure along the front.
