Ukraine still has an ace up its sleeve

That’s what US military chief Mark Milley says when he was asked about Ukraine’s stalled counter-offensive.

— Ukraine has a significant amount of combat power that has not yet been deployed, he claims during a joint press conference with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Tuesday.

— Right now they are maintaining their capacity, and are working slowly, deliberately and steadily through all these minefields. And it’s a tough fight.

According to Milley, it is far too early to judge the offensive as a failure. The whole thing will be “lengthy” and “bloody”.

Austin, in turn, emphasizes that the efforts to strengthen Kiev’s forces are far from finished, and refers, among other things, to the Ukrainian soldiers who are currently being trained in Germany.

The United States has been at the forefront of international support for Ukraine. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has contributed more than $42 billion in military aid.
