According to Russian information, at least 24 people have been injured in the attack in Ukraine.
Ukraine has launched a powerful attack on the Sevastopol naval base in the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula.
Ukraine sent ten missiles and three drones to the port area, says the governor of the Sevastopol region of the Russian occupation administration Mikhail Razvozhaev.
According to him, the air and sea defense of the port destroyed all the sea drones and seven missiles, but three missiles exploded in the port area. 24 people in the area were injured, Ražvožajev says on the Telegram channel.
According to the governor, the missiles set fire to the Sevastopol shipyard area and damaged two ships that were under repair.
The port of Sevastopol is strategically important, as it serves as a base for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Through Sevastopol, Russia controls the sea traffic. Navy ships using cruise missiles to Ukraine also use Sevastopol.
Message channel X has plenty of footage from the event, although their authenticity cannot be confirmed.
The attack on Ukraine was timed to happen just moments before the Russian president Vladimir Putin and the leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un were meeting at the Vostotshny Space Center in the Far East.
Putin and Kim are scheduled to negotiate North Korea’s military aid to Russia.
According to unconfirmed reports, one of the Russian ships hit may be the large landing ship Olenegorsky Gornjak, which was already damaged in early August near the port of Novorossiysk after a Ukrainian maritime drone hit its side. Ukrainian Militarnyi website according to the ship was being repaired at the Sevastopol dry dock.
