According to South Korean intelligence, North Korea has sent 1,500 soldiers to help Russia.
Spravdi, Ukraine’s center for strategic communication and information security, has released a video that purportedly shows North Korean soldiers in Russia preparing to join Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.
In the video, one of the soldiers seems to be giving instructions to the others, speaking with a North Korean accent.
South Korea’s intelligence service did not comment on the video to the AFP news agency.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported on Friday that South Korea’s intelligence service confirmed that North Korea has decided to send about 10,000 soldiers to support Russia in its war against Ukraine, and that 1,500 soldiers have already been transferred to Russia.
According to the South Korean intelligence service, the soldiers would have already been placed at various bases in the Russian Far East, from where they will be sent to the battlefields after training.
According to the intelligence service, troops have been sent to at least Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Khabarovsk and Blagoveshtshensk bases. According to the intelligence service, the forces sent to help Russia include, among other things, special forces.
Russia says it has captured a Ukrainian village
The Russian Ministry of Defense says that Russian troops have taken over a village in eastern Ukraine. The captured village enables Russian troops to advance towards the industrial city of Kurakhove. Kurakhove is located west of the city of Donetsk, which is already under the control of Russian forces.
Russia has occupied several areas in Ukraine during the current year. In recent months, Russian forces have managed to advance westward in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
