Scholz nevertheless urged the Russian president to withdraw the troops to allow for a diplomatic solution, condemning the Russian air strikes against the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and emphasizing Germany’s determination to support Ukraine in securing its defense capability. Scholz then asked Putin to find “as soon as possible” a “diplomatic solution”, which includes the “withdrawal of Russian troops”.
