Ukraine, Nord Stream sabotage: new lead on pro-Ukrainian group, no evidence of Kiev’s involvement

Ukraine Nord Stream sabotage new lead on pro Ukrainian group no

(Finance) – As reported by the New York Times there would be new information of intelligence examined by United States which would indicate that the sabotage of the pipeline North Stream last year would have been carried out by a pro-Ukrainian group. According to US officials, there is no evidence that President Volodymyr Zelensky or his General Staff were involved in the operation, nor that the perpetrators of the sabotage acted on the instructions of the Ukrainian government.

A German government spokeswoman said Berlin he “took note” of what the New York Times reported about the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, underlining that the investigations into the explosions are still ongoing. In addition he spokesman recalled that investigations into the explosions are also underway in Sweden and in Denmark, “each under the auspices of national authorities”. A few days ago, Sweden, Denmark and Germany informed the United Nations Security Council that the investigations are ongoing and that there are no results yet.

According to the investigators’ investigations, cited by the German newspaper Tagesschau, the sabotage clandestine it was allegedly accomplished with the help of a yacht chartered by a Polish-based company, ostensibly to two Ukrainian citizens. The covert operation at sea would be carried out by a team of six: five men and one woman. The group would consist of a captain, two divers, two dive assistants and a female doctor, who would carry the explosives and place them. There Nationality of those responsible is not, however, clear. The group allegedly used false passports, which were allegedly used, among other things, to rent the boat.

Already in the autumn, a western intelligence service would have forwarded to the European partner services the hypothesis that a man responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream had been commando Ukrainian. Later, there would have been further intelligence indications suggesting that a pro-Ukrainian group was responsible. As Tagesschau explained, although the runway leads to Ukraine, the hypothesis of a “false flag” operation cannot be ruled out.
