Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that a mass grave has been found in the city of Izium, which was retaken from Russian forces.

“We want the world to know what the Russian occupation has caused,” says the president, without saying anything about the number of dead found or the cause of their death.

“We need to have more clear and confirmed information tomorrow,” he continues according to AFP.

But Serhiy Bolvinov, who is chief investigator at the Kharkiv regional police force, tells Sky News that around 440 bodies have been found.

“I can tell you that it is one of the largest burial grounds in a liberated city, consisting of more than 440 graves. Around 440 bodies were buried in one place,” he says.

Bolvinov states that the bodies are to be examined as part of a major police operation, to collect evidence of suspected war crimes.
