Ukraine is achieving “tangible” results against Russian forces in the northeastern Kharkiv Oblast, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. But elsewhere along the front line it is “extremely difficult”.

Earlier in May, Russia launched a major ground offensive against Kharkiv, and has since claimed control of several villages.

– In Kharkiv county, our forces destroy the occupier, the results are tangible, says Zelensky in his evening speech.

At the same time, he warns that the situation on the eastern front, near towns such as Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk and Kurachov, remains “extremely difficult”.

– Most of the battles are going on there now.

According to the military’s spokesperson Nazar Voloshyn, the Ukrainian military has succeeded in “stabilizing the situation” at the front in Kharkiv. But it is still described as difficult and rapidly changing.
