Ukraine has carried out an attack in the Russian-occupied Luhansk region.
According to the commander of the air force, Mykola Oleshchuk, a Russian command center has been struck.
“There will be more similar attacks against the enemy when Ukraine receives more robots from our Western partners,” writes Oleshchuk on Telegram.
According to commander Mykola Oleshchuk, the attack must have been carried out on Saturday. He describes the operation as “effective” and he thanks the air force pilots for a successful operation.
“The Ukrainian pilots did a good job and returned to base,” writes Oleshchuk.
Want more robots from the West
The Air Force did not specify exactly how the attack was allegedly carried out, but according to the Kyiv Post it is most likely that they used cruise robots of the Storm Shadow model.
Ukraine has previously received several deliveries of Stom Shadow robots. Last May, the UK delivered a batch of robots and in August a shipment arrived from France.
After Saturday’s attack, Commander Oleshchuk requested more robots from his Western partners – which would lead to more similar attacks.
However, the Storm Shadow robots have had to be modified as Ukraine currently does not have access to any warplanes from NATO. Several countries have already announced that they will deliver the American fighter jet model F-16 to Ukraine.
As recently as Friday, Norway confirmed that it will deliver 22 F-16 planes, after receiving approval from the US, reports Nettavisen.
Several dead in attack on Tokmak
The attack on Luhansk is one of several in the near future against areas occupied by Russia. Last Friday, Ukraine struck the town of Tokmak in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhya region.
According to unconfirmed Russian information, three apartment buildings have been shelled and at least 16 people have been killed, TT reports.
A major search and rescue operation must have been underway in the rubble of the buildings that were destroyed.
