Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is calling for Ukraine’s immediate membership of the European Union through special procedures.
The Ukrainian parliament announced on Monday night its historic decision to apply for EU membership.

On Monday, President Zelenskyi called for Ukraine’s immediate membership of the European Union through special procedures.
In his speech, Zelenskyi said that in addition to their country, Ukrainians are fighting for peace, equality and democracy in Europe and the EU.
– This gives us the right to request Ukraine’s immediate accession to the European Union through a special procedure, Zelenskyi said.
– Ukraine is one of us and we want them in the European Union, he said.
However, according to EU officials, there is no accelerated membership process and the accession process will take years, according to the news agency AFP.
