Ukraine fundraiser in Karlskrona exposed to repeated break-ins: “Feels sad”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

For several months, the Red Cross, the Church of Sweden and volunteer residents of Karlskrona have helped to provide food, drink and other necessities to Ukrainian refugees arriving by ferry from Gdynia.

Only empty boxes left

In the container that stands at the terminal, the supplies, which were donated by private individuals and companies, have been used as a storage warehouse for, among other things, drinks and hygiene items between ferry arrivals. But this week it was broken into and there were only a few empty boxes left.

– I feel sad for those who feel they have to do things like this and take from others when they know it should go to charity, says Göran Eckerdal, substitute vicar of Lyckå parish.

Pauses relief efforts

Despite the incident, Göran Eckerdal still feels confident that they can continue to store the things at the ferry terminal. But that right now they will have to wait with their aid efforts at the ferry arrivals.

The incident has been reported to the police.
