Ukraine has declared national mourning on Tuesday after Monday’s large-scale Russian air attack in which over 40 people died and over 160 were injured, the BBC writes.

Among other things, the largest children’s hospital Ochmatdyt in Kiev was hit, where two people died. As of Tuesday morning, the search for survivors was still ongoing. At least two dead and over 50 injured have been reported from the hospital.

In total, over 40 robots of various types are said to have been fired in the attacks, which took place during the day. Upwards of 100 buildings are said to have been found in several different cities.

Meanwhile, Russia claims that four people have died in Ukrainian attacks in the southern Russian border region of Belgorod in the past 24 hours.

On Monday afternoon, Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina played at Wimbledon wearing a black armband to honor the victims of the attack earlier in the day.

– It was not easy to focus on the match today. Since this morning it has been difficult to read the news. Going out on the field was extremely difficult, she said in an interview after the game.

The month of May was the deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine in almost a year, according to a new report, the BBC writes.
