Ukraine bans Orthodox Church linked to Moscow Patriarchate

The Ukrainian parliament adopted a law on Tuesday, August 30, to ban religious organizations linked to Russia. This text follows several accusations of collaboration between members of the Orthodox clergy practicing in Ukraine and Moscow. Ukraine sees in these religious activities an influence of the Kremlin on its soil, after two and a half years of invasion of its territory. The Moscow Patriarchate denounces an “illegal act”.
