Concert halls around the country have been urged to boycott the ballet ensemble after claims that the performance has connections to the Russian state and the army, as SVT previously reported.
UKK now chooses to cancel the agreement with the Czech company and the ensemble.
– We protect culture as a unifying force and the freedom and independence of art, but in this case it is more important that we cannot rule out that there are connections between the tenant, the ballet company and the Russian state, says Björn Magnuson Lupo, team leader at UKK’s program department, in a press release.
Together with other concert halls, UKK has carried out an investigation which concluded that it is likely that the company has connections to the Russian state.
– All other concert halls concerned have chosen to end the collaboration, says Karl Ekström, acting press officer at UKK, to SVT.
