(Finance) – The retail sales in the UK in August. According to the Office for National Statistics, retail sales scored a decrease of 1.6% on a monthly basis, after the + 0.4% recorded in July (revised figure from + 0.3%). The data results worse than expectations of analysts who were up for a 0.5% drop.
Every year you register a negative change of 5.4% compared to -3.2% in July and against -4.2% of the consensus.
The core retail saleswhich exclude fuels, are it fell 1.6% on a month-to-month basis after the + 0.4% of the previous month, compared to a -0.7% estimated by the market. Over yearthe core data scored a -5% compared to the previous -3.1% and the expected -3.4%.
