(Tiper Stock Exchange) – UK retail sales accelerate, which rose more than analysts’ expectations. In June, according to the Office for National Statistics, retail sales hit a 0.7% increase on a monthly basis, after the -0.1% recorded in April (from a preliminary +0.3%). The figure is higher than consensus which indicated an increase in the 0.2%.
Every year one registers negative change of 1%lower than expected (-1.5%), after -2.3% in April (revised from -3.4%).
The core retail saleswhich exclude fuels, rose 0.8% month on month after the +0.1% of the previous month, against a +0.2% expected from the market. Over the year, the core data recorded a -0.9% compared to the previous -1.9% (data revised by -1.7%) and the expected -1.6%.
