Since the beginning of the year, 25 people have already died trying to cross the Channel in makeshift boats. This is more than in 2023 and 2022, when illegal crossings to England had reached record levels. The new Labour government of the United Kingdom, in office for six weeks, therefore unveiled its plan on Wednesday, August 21, to reduce illegal immigration.
