UK inflation jumps to 9 in April the highest in

(Finance) – It continues to grow UK inflation in April 2022. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) notes this, explaining that on annual basis consumer prices mark one 9% growth, against the + 7% of the previous month and the + 9.1% of the consensus. This is the highest 12-month inflation rate in the time series, which began in January 1997. It is also the highest rate recorded in the reconstructed time series, which start since January 1989. The ONS recently released inflation data modeled on an indicative basis for previous periods. “These new estimates suggest that inflation would have been higher around 1982, where estimates range from around 6.5% in December to nearly 11% in January,” the statistical office says.

Up monthly basis inflation recorded an increase of 2.5%, lower than the + 2.6% expected by analysts and against the + 1.1% of the previous month.

The core inflation data, which excludes the most volatile components such as food and fuel, accelerates to 6.2% from 5.7% the previous month and equals the + 6.2% estimated by analysts. On a monthly basis there is a + 0.7%, less than + 0.8% of expectations and against the + 0.9% of the previous month.
