UK August retail sales beat expectations

IGD Intesa cuts target price and confirms Hold

(Finance) – Retail sales are growing in the United Kingdom. According to theOffice for National Statisticsretail sales rose 1% month-on-month in August, following a 0.7% gain in July. The figure also beat the consensus of 0.3% growth.

Even on an annual basis, there was a positive variation of 2.5%, above expectations (+1.4%) and after the +1.5% of July.

The core retail sales, excluding fuel, grew by 1.1% on the month, (+0.5% expectations) after the +1% of the previous month. On the year, the core figure marked a +2.3% compared to the previous +1.4% (+1.1% expectations).
