Uefa suspends all matches in Israel

The decision comes after the dramatic escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

“In light of the current security situation in Israel, Uefa has decided to postpone all matches scheduled in Israel for the next few weeks,” Uefa writes on its website.

The announcement means that the EC qualifying match between Israel and Switzerland will not take place as planned. Israel’s U21 national team’s qualifying matches against Germany and Estonia are also postponed.

Uefa has yet to decide whether the European qualifier between Kosovo and Israel, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday next week, will also need to be postponed.

“Uefa will continue to closely monitor the situation and will keep in touch with all the teams involved before decisions are made on new dates and on possible changes to other upcoming matches,” the confederation writes.
