To recover this essential 5th place, because it grants a fourth ticket in the Champions League and a seventh in the European Cup, the French clubs must have a good season and hope for bad results for the Batavian clubs. Lens loses a decisive match for France
While France had largely reduced its delay thanks to good results at the start of these group stages, coming back to 0.769 points behind the Netherlands after having been almost 3 points at the start of the season, the defeat of Lens at the PSV Eidhoven (1-0) widened the gap again. Four places in LDC, seven in Europe next year
In the meantime, French clubs will have four places in the Champions League next year, because France was still ahead of the Netherlands at the end of last season. The 6th or 7th place in Ligue 1 will also qualify for the European Cup, in addition to the winner of the French Cup.
