UEFA Champions League. The 6th and final day of the 2021-2022 Champions League group stage takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday. In each group, the provisional classification already lets some certainties emerge for the round of 16 …

17:45 – Lille close to a historic qualification
Who would have thought that at this stage of the competition the Mastiffs would be first in their group? After a mixed start at the start of the competition (only 2 points in the first leg), Lille signed two convincing successes against Sevilla and Salzburg and took the reins of Group G. But beware, anything is still possible in this very undecided group. In case of success against Wolfsburg, Lille are sure to finish first in their group. They are also certain to finish first in the event of a draw and, at the same time, Salzburg do not win at home against Sevilla. In case of defeat, the Mastiffs would finish third and compete in the Europa League.
17:00 – Müller craves revenge
Extremely disappointed that his partner, Robert Lewandowski does not win the Ballon d’Or, Thomas Müller wants revenge: “It’s a huge motivation for me to put everything in the balance in order to bring the Champions League back to Munich and show to the football world what’s going on. And above all, what German football has to offer. We have the next opportunity to do that next Wednesday in the Champions League game against FC Barcelona. We are tackling it! “
16:15 – Barça has its destiny in its hands
FC Barcelona no longer has a choice: to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, Xavi’s men must win against Bayern Munich, but not only. It will also be necessary for Benfica, who had managed to sign a draw at Camp Nou, not to win against Dynamo Kiev, who are already certain of being eliminated from the competition. Barça will therefore have to cross their fingers and win against the Bavarian ogre, first in the group with 5 successes in as many meetings.
16:00 – Shakhtar Donetsk – FC Sheriff Tiraspol, game without stake
Match without any stake in this group D, Shakhtar Donetsk – FC Sheriff Tiraspol, will count for butter. Shakhtar is guaranteed to finish in 4th place in Group D and will therefore be eliminated from any European competition. Opposite, Sheriff Tiraspol, little thumb of this Champions League, will play the play-offs for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
15:15 – Who will finish first in group D?
If Real Madrid and Inter Milan are already certain to play the knockout stages of the Champions League, this European clash between the first and second in group D will determine who will finish in first place. Indeed, in the event of success or a draw for Carlo Ancelotti’s men at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Madrilenians will remain first in the pool. On the other hand, if the Nerazzurri win in Madrid, they would finish the group stages in first place.
2:30 pm – Everything is rolling for Ajax!
This is one of the good surprises of this 2021-2022 edition of the Champions League. With 5 successes in as many matches, Erik Ten Hag’s men are logically first in Group C before 15 points. They are already certain to finish first of theirs and play the round of 16 of the competition. Better yet, if successful against Sporting, Ajax would become the 7th team to win all their group matches.
13:45 – Atlético Madrid qualified if …
The Colchoneros are the big disappointment of this group B. Diego Simeone’s men have won only one meeting against three defeats and a draw. Last of group B, they can however cherish the hope of qualifying for the round of 16: they must win against the Dragons, hoping that Milan do not win against the Reds. Otherwise, they would be eliminated from the competition. Worse, depending on the outcome of Milan’s match and their performance in Portugal, they might not even be in the Europa League.
13:00 – Porto qualified if …
It is a final which will be played at the Dragon stadium on behalf of the 6th day of the Champions League. Against all expectations, Sergio Conceiçao’s men can still qualify for the knockout stages. The Dragons must either win or draw, hoping AC Milan don’t beat Liverpool. The chances are therefore still great for the eighth despite a group of death. But beware, the Colchoneros, last of group B, can also qualify …
12:15 – Giroud uncertain, Maignan back
For this meeting between AC Milan and Liverpool, Stefano Pioli will probably have to do without the services of Olivier Giroud. The French international had to leave his partners during the last trip of the Milanese to Madrid. He is, according to the Italian press, still very uncertain. All the hopes of the Milanese people will therefore rest on the shoulders of the indestructible Zlatan Ibrahimovic who should be the holder for this 6th day of the Champions League. Good news for the goalkeeper position: Mike Maignan is back. The tricolor doorman, recovered from his wrist operation, was the holder this weekend against Salernitana.
11:30 am – The Reds aim for a record
Jürgen Klopp’s men left no chance for their opponents. First in group B with 15 points, they have won all their matches since the start of this edition of the Champions League. If they were to win one last time at San Siro for the account of the 6th day, they would become the 7th team in history to win all their group matches in the competition.
10:45 – Imperative victory for Milan
Third B one point behind Porto, the Rossoneri no longer have a choice: they must win at San Siro to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. At the same time, Porto must not win against the Colchoneros. In the first leg, the Reds won in pain (3-2). Back in the competition after 7 years of absence, the Milanese started the competition very badly (3 defeats) but still have a hope of qualifying against the undisputed leader of the group.
The group stage of the Football Champions League takes place from Tuesday, September 14, 2021 to Wednesday, December 8, 2021 while the knockout stage will take place from Tuesday, February 15, 2022 to Wednesday, May 4, 2022. The battle for TV rights continued to rage for this new 2021/2022 season. UEFA has awarded the French TV rights for the “Big Ears Cup” to beIN Sports and Canal +, which will therefore broadcast the 2021-2022 Champions League. RMC Sport will co-broadcast with Canal the two best Champions League posters until 2024 and beIN SPORTS will offer all of the remaining matches. TF1 will broadcast the final scheduled for May 28, 2022 in clear.
