Classic Ubisoft games like Assassin’s Creed 2, Rainbow Six Vegas and Far Cry 2 will no longer be playable online.
In an official statement, Ubisoft stated that they have cut their online support. We are facing a classic event that upsets many players. In most games that have been released for a long time, companies close their servers and cut off their online support in order to attract attention to the brand they have just released or will release. Last year, the Halo: Reach and Halo 3 servers were shut down. Most recently, the plug was pulled for the popular MMO Tera, which has been 10 years since its release. Now, Ubisoft has announced that it will close the servers of about 90 games and withdraw online support in its official statement.
Ubisoft is shutting down the servers of its classic games
The removal of online support will not only prevent players from playing online, but will also prevent certain skins from being unlocked in games like Assasins’s Creed: Brotherhood. In Ubisoft Connect services, players will no longer be able to earn points by completing in-game tasks in these games.
Games based on direct online competition, such as Rainbow Six Vegas, will become unplayable as expected. Even if Ubisoft seems to have completely abandoned the aforementioned 90 games, single-player games among the classics can still be played. However, games like Just Dance will lose their functionality on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii platforms.
