Released on March 20, 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game particularly scrutinized by an entire industry and its players. Between detractors who want the failure of the game and the death of Ubisoft, and the others who only want to play a good title, the opinions are decided. For Ubisoft developers, it is a long period of work in complex and tense conditions, but it would seem that the light is at the end of this long tunnel, since Ubisoft has just announced that the game has already brought together 1 million players at this stage. Of course, this is the number of players and not real sales, and to have the first sales figures, you will have to wait a few more days. Nevertheless, these first statistics are encouraging, especially since the general public seems to have nothing to do with controversies.
By taking a look at Steamdb, we see a peak of connected players simultaneously amounts to 41,412, which is obviously little for an AAA of this scale, especially compared to games such as Black myth Wukong (2.4 million players simultaneously)Monster Hunter Wilds (1.3 million), Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (256,000) and Split Fiction (259,000). But let us also remember that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had only one steam peak at 15,679 players and when you know that the number of sales ended at 20 million copies, we must remain cautious about these first statistics.
