On December 4, the two-year-old played Good Paul near his home in Lake Katwe, Uganda.
Suddenly, a hippo attacked the boy and even managed to swallow half his body before a witness came to the rescue.
Witness scared the hippo away
Chrispas Bagonza was nearby and managed to scare the hippo by hitting it with a rock and scaring it back into the water, causing the animal to spit out Iga Paul.
The two-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries to one of his hands, but left a short time later without serious consequences. Before he was returned to his parents by police, he was given a rabies vaccine.
Hippos one of the most dangerous animals
The police in the area later commented on the incident and reminded the population of the danger of wild animals:
“Although the hippo was scared back into the lake, all residents near animal protection areas and habitats should know that wild animals are very dangerous,” the statement said, according to CNN.
And hippos are no exception. In fact, they are known to be one of the most dangerous animals on the planet and so strong that they can break a canoe in half – with just their jaws.
