(Finance) – The motorcycle, scooter and moped market in August still shows a positive figure: +13.5% year on year to 18,309 vehicles. These are the data published by Confindustria Ancma (National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories) which announces “the development of a large package of proposals to the bill for the revision of the Highway Code, which has become necessary also in the light of the positive market trend and an ever greater diffusion of the two wheels and in the country”.

The drivers are still the driving force in August scooter, which grow by 22.58% and register 9,746 vehicles. More than good also the result of the motorbikes, which they register 7,337 vehicles equal to an increase of 6.94%. In contrast, the market for mopedswhich for the third consecutive month recorded a minus sign, with a drop of 6.77% and only 1,226 units sold.

During 2023, for seven out of eight months, market growth was double-digit: in August, the annual cumulative recorded an overall increase of 16.67% and 258,746 units sold. Scooters take the lion’s share with 133,219 registered vehicles and a growth of around a quarter of the volumes last year (+24.48%); followed by motorcycles with 111,901 units registered and growing by 12.89%.

Instead, the suffering of the market mopeds, which register only 13,626 vehicles corresponding to a decrease of 12.83%. After two months of decline, the market for goods is also recovering electric, which in August marks a nice +15.4% equal to 682 vehicles put on the road. Very good i mopeds, which grow by 73.17% and register 284 units; scooters, on the other hand, are still in trouble, down by 7.77% and registering 368 vehicles. The balance for the year remains in negative territory with a loss of 21.32% and 9,323 units sold. In this area, the association finally reiterates the request to the Government to release the unused funds in 2022 for the incentives upon purchase, currently frozen.
