It is the Maritime and Water Authority that made the decision, which comes into force on 23 May. The authority states that it is better management of the fishing stocks that makes the extension possible.
– Restoration of the habitats in the rivers, improved survival of salmon hatchlings and regulation of fishing both in the sea and in the rivers are part of what lies behind, writes investigator Håkan Carlstrand on the authority’s website.
In Norrbotten, unchanged rules apply, the fishing ban comes into force there on 31 August.
