It was just before 2pm on Sunday that the rescue helicopter, hovercraft and blue light personnel were alerted to the ice by cross-country skaters. Ten minutes later, the rescue service had arrived at the wake where two people were lying without buoyancy aids.
The sea rescue’s hovercraft, which arrived from Västerås on the other side of Mälaren, managed to get them up.
“They are definitely awake and we have received confirmation that no one is missing,” says police spokesperson Johnny Gustavsson.
The police have no information about the sex or age of the persons. According to the police’s initial information, it is about long-distance skaters.
